Continuing our work with the Cairn Group we have looked at a series of sympathetic additions and alterations to the Grade 2 listed Elm Bank Hotel. Options currently being explored range from a new entrance loggia to a possible mansard extension on the current unsympathetic 1950’s extension. The design narrative proposes a ‘family’ of subtle additions that enhance the existing building whilst maintaining an honest contemporary language.
